I have decided to put more time and energy into my research. It’s been a pleasure to answer your emails and to help you through some of life’s tough journeys. Everyone who has participated in my Dear Eugenia column has enriched my life and I hope I have improved yours as well.
For those of you who wish to contribute birth data to my research, please enter your information to my medical astrology research listed on my home page. This research is explicitly dealing with cancer and mental health – addiction illness. The focus is on early diagnosis and preventative medicine.
I want to stress how important it is to submit complete and accurate birth data – the time and place of birth.

What does being on the cusp mean? Sometimes I'm shown as a Gemini, sometimes Cancer. Although I think I lean more towards Gemini. I was born June 21, 1961 at 1 AM.

According to your chart you are born under the sign Gemini if the time of birth is accurate set at 1 AM, however, if you were born at 10:31 AM or after on the 21st you are a Cancer by Sun Sign. Don't put too much onus on being one sign or the other. It is the entire package that makes you who you are and helps determine your direction. The time of birth is however very important as a chart changes every four minutes and for someone like me to be accurate I need specific data.
Your natal Mercury (the planet that deals with the way you think and communicate) is in the sign Cancer so that is why you are leaning toward that sign. Your chart also indicates that you have a very strong Leo and Virgo influence with a little Scorpio, Capricorn, Aquarius and Taurus thrown into the mix to make you the person you are.
For the record - if born before 10:31 AM you can call yourself a Gemini if after a Cancer.

Dear Eugenia,
I have to ask for *discretion*, because my situation is embarrassing to me. I feel like I've failed in everything I've attempted. My baby's 10 months old now (09-17-00 12:02pm. I'm living on just about every source of welfare that I could find, and I get no child support. Things are getting really rough. I cry at night because I didn't want it to be like this. Every time I try for a job, I get no reply. Do you see anything happening in my chart in terms of financial stability? I really wish to get off of public assistance. I wanted to write to you about love and my soul mate. I feel so alone, and I know my first priority is my son, but love. I have never really had that someone special without it breaking out into mental abuse. Can you tell me if I'm *ever* going to meet someone. I feel cursed. I feel like I'm reliving my moms past...and it scares me. I know you can't move the stars, but if you can give me some insight into what's going on or might happen it might help to be aware. Sometimes I don't know if I can continue living the way I am. I'm scared, and I want more for my son. His father (10-15-82 isn't around, no one knows where he is. I'm just so confused. I try to keep hope alive, but I can't get any breaks.

You are heading into a high cycle regarding work so don't stop looking. A job will be available if you continue to walk the pavement and go for interviews. Opportunities for educational pursuits are also present. That could mean that you will learn while on the job like an apprenticeship. Although you do match up to the father of your son he probably does not know how to handle the responsibility. If you can find him I suggest you do. He should be helping you out by paying support. I believe that you will be able to do something regarding this matter over the course of the next year so don't give up hope or stop trying to find him. You do have a habit of picking men who are irresponsible. Keep in mind that there is more to a good relationship then sex. Kindness, generosity, responsibility and the ability to share are also important. Long after the passion dwindles you still need to have common interests, beliefs and goals. I am a (almost) 16 year old girl sag born December 14, 1984, at 12:23 AM. Both my moon and my ascendant are in Virgo, I have heard that Virgo's are pretty down to earth and grounded individuals. I am NOT either of those. On the contrary, I spend most of my time day dreaming and thinking about the future instead of the present. I am more interested in thinking up future projects than doing present ones.
I am also constantly in a dream world. I like to spend my time in my head, thinking about places that don't exist. This type of thinking has put more pressure on me to do well in school and I am falling behind. Could you tell me what part of my natal chart and any transits that are causing this behavior, and how to combat it. It's really getting in the way of my studies and I would like to try and stay in the real world.

Your ascendant is very late Virgo therefore you have a far stronger Libra influence in your first house. As for your Virgo Moon it is hidden in your 12th house making it less obvious. The fact that you do have your Moon in Virgo however coupled with your Sun, Mercury and Uranus in another mutable sign (Sagittarius) is contributing to your daydreaming right now because transiting Jupiter is moving through Gemini. Now this doesn't have to be a bad thing. It does mean that you want to learn and discover and expand your horizons however if what they are trying to teach you doesn't interest you it can cause you to wonder off mentally to things that capture your imagination. This transit and your planets in Sagittarius run across the 3rd and 9th houses in your chart which represent lower and higher education therefore the problem is affecting your schoolwork. This transit will pass but not until May/June of next year so buckle down and force yourself to work a little harder. If need be get extra help, talk to your teachers, or do whatever you can to get through this hard to focus period. You are also moving through a period that is favorable for socializing but don't be lead astray by friends. With transiting Neptune sitting on your Venus in your 5th house you could easily end up in a sorrowful situation. The best outlet for you during this period is one that is creative.
