I grew up alone and lonely, but didn't mind, as it was all I knew. After 18 yrs of a (almost) happy marriage he left and again I have been alone for 18 yrs. I could have gotten married twice, but they both smothered me and wanted to just follow me around all the time. I raised one kid who is an attorney. Everyone thinks I am a happy, fun person, but really I am so tired of battling life alone. Will this ever change? I listen to co-workers who have families or husbands to cook for and I envy them so much. Also financially I just hang on and worry about a roof over my head and food on the table. I refuse to be a burden to my kid. Will this ever change?

I was supposed to marry my boyfriend last year. But, I'm the one who suggested reconsidering our marriage. I am negative to marriage, that is, I was afraid that I might lose my freedom. His parents want us to get married soon. However, considering his conservative parents and my non-conservative parents, I think I will have to face some problems after we get married. Am I too selfish? I'm working in the computing machine area. I want to go abroad to continue my study and I want to do many other things. Thus, marriage is not my first priority.
My boyfriend is a conservative man. He wants to take a dominant position in our relationship. I have to do everything for him if I marry him. If there is an exit, I want to escape. I am a great fan of yours. You seem to provide enough info about the future so people can make sense of their lives. I am one of those people. I am truly confused. The beginning Dec. 6 of 1999 I meet a young man who had responded to a personal ad I had posted. Once we got talking I had a sense that this person was my soul mate. We could write e-mails that could make a book within days. Well I decided to visit him over my spring break. The experience was great, but he recently told me that him and his ex girlfriend are slowly getting back together. I was wondering if we still have a chance and if not how can I move on?
