I have decided to put more time and energy into my research. It’s been a pleasure to answer your emails and to help you through some of life’s tough journeys. Everyone who has participated in my Dear Eugenia column has enriched my life and I hope I have improved yours as well.
For those of you who wish to contribute birth data to my research, please enter your information to my medical astrology research listed on my home page. This research is explicitly dealing with cancer and mental health – addiction illness. The focus is on early diagnosis and preventative medicine.
I want to stress how important it is to submit complete and accurate birth data – the time and place of birth.

I'm a 21-year old gay male living in New Mexico. I have been addicted to substances (alcohol, etc.) since I was a teenager. I can't shake them and can't seem to imagine a life without them. They are getting in the way of possible love interests because if I had a partner, they would need to be patient with the substances. As it is, I cling to phone sex and pornography to continue the escapism. I'm not complaining about my life. I've learned to live with it. But is there something in my chart that would explain my problem? That's all I need to know right now. If you could be so kind as to maybe help me explore this, I would be eternally grateful. I was born July 14, 1980, at 4 AM.

You were born with your natal Neptune opposite your natal Venus across your sixth and twelfth. This is considered to be sorrowful, addictive, escapist and so forth. I believe that you are coming to a turning point in your life over the course of the next couple of years while transiting Saturn moves through the sign Gemini. This will cause some depression, some physical limitations and could even lead you to a rehab center or institutional type environment. I believe that you can turn things around if you want but I fear that you will have to hit rock bottom before that happens. Your chart indicates that you must be careful not to get involved with someone who is equally as addictive or someone who is already involved with another. What you should be focusing on the rest of this year and the first half of next is what you want to do with the rest of your life regarding your career. I have been separated and divorced from my Capricorn ex-husband (January 12, 1953, 10:23 a.m.) for seven years. We have two daughters together, one nineteen (September 13, 11.22 a.m. living with him and one (Feb 10, 1985, 10:53 a.m.) living with me. It has been a difficult divorce and caused much pain for all of us. Not my idea. I have been on my own ever since. I have dated occasionally but never got past the first date. I recently gave up the house and moved into a small apartment so my daughter could be nearer her father and sister. She is much happier, has a boyfriend and I rarely see her. Two weeks ago I went to an English Country Dance and was approached by an older gentleman (January 1, 1934, 12:15 a.m.) who has been courting me ever since. He takes me dancing and for dinner. He is an ex drama and English teacher, and an actor. Teaching drama and English is the profession I have just completed training for, and I have a background in acting and film. He loves to travel as do I. He has been separated from his wife of 18 years for one year. My concern is that he is another Capricorn, and I am a Cancer (July 14, 1943, 6:05 p.m.) I have Saturn in Gemini opposition Moon in the seventh house and that means difficulty in relationships. I think I may get myself into trouble again in a relationship with another Capricorn. He is sweet and kind and generous and seems to like me a lot. I have been alone for seven years, putting my daughter and my education first. Is this a father thing? Does it have a chance? Should I just enjoy it for the time being and not expect anything? I am used to a younger man, but nobody that age is interested in a fifty-seven year old woman with a teenaged daughter. I look much younger. Should I accept this graciously, or keep looking. Do you see another major relationship for me, or just casual dating? Is this the one?

Your Capricorn friend only has his natal Sun in that sign. He has a strong Aquarius influence with his Mercury in the youthful playboy sign Sagittarius. Keep in mind as well that most Capricorn's are old when they are young and young when they are old. This is not an ordinary man and you do match up quite well to him. I feel that there is some deception in this relationship, however I believe that it is within you not him. You are coming into a high cycle regarding love and relationships in May and June of next year. Until that time I suggest you let this relationship develop and see how you feel at that time. If you feel that you can't get past the age difference I suggest that you move on, as new possibilities are likely at that time. However, if you realize that you are falling in love with this man it will be the perfect time to take this connection to the next level.

If I don't get a response from you this time, I guess I'll give up. Incidentally, what happens to the emails that have been sent to you many times over but never get answered? Anyhow, I was born March 11, 1971 at 5:01 a.m. It seems Cupid is doing nothing but piercing me with his arrow regarding my love life. Why? The longest relationship I had lasted three years then my heart was broken; then I met someone who used me on the rebound (didn't know this when I met her of course) and had the nerve to invite me to her wedding! Then I slowly fell for this girl I met through work (2 years ago)(Virgo, but again, I'm being used as a sounding board and to get her out of work-related jams; special days like New Year's eve, she's not with me but her family or somewhere else despite her promises and notice in advance. I'm good-looking, a gentleman, have a decent job and lots of friends 'cause I don't have any brothers or sisters and slowly but surely all of my friends have gotten married and some now even have children. I so want these things in my life as well. Please tell me what's in store for me. Sometimes I feel so down that I hibernate and become very much a loner. Thanks for answering this one, I hope! You are a great catch but you've been going through a period of deception, disillusionment and so forth when it comes to your relationships. This is moving off your chart but as long as you are a loner you aren't likely to get out and meet Ms. Right. Although some Virgo's can match up to you well it is hard to say how compatible you are with the one at work because you didn't submit her birth date. I would have to assume by what you are saying that the Virgo in her chart probably adversely hits the Neptune and Jupiter in your chart. This always causes some problems. Your chart indicates that you can have a happy relationship and all the things in life that you are hoping for but that you will have to go about it in a little different manner than what you have in the past. The unfortunate thing is that the signs you are drawn to are not likely to be drawn to you. In other words you are picking the wrong people to partner with. You really need to do astrological comparisons, which I might add can be done for free on my www.astroadvice.com website. You are not in a bad cycle for meeting new people and I do believe that you can meet someone through work or through relatives or friends so don't be afraid to go out on a blind date. With transiting Jupiter moving through your house of relationships until the summer of next year you have plenty of opportunities ahead of you, but once again you must get out and make your moves. Join groups that interest you and you will meet someone with similar likes. You have a good chart and so much to offer so stop being so hard on yourself. You have recently entered into a seven-year cycle that will promote changes in your personal life. This is just the beginning and love and romance are within reach. Open your eyes and your heart but don't be fooled by women who want a sounding board or who are on the rebound. You are young, doing well and have everything to offer. The signs you are most likely to do well with are Aries, Taurus, Leo, early Virgo's and Capricorn.
