I'm a 21-year old gay male living in New Mexico. I have been addicted to substances (alcohol, etc.) since I was a teenager. I can't shake them and can't seem to imagine a life without them. They are getting in the way of possible love interests because if I had a partner, they would need to be patient with the substances. As it is, I cling to phone sex and pornography to continue the escapism. I'm not complaining about my life. I've learned to live with it. I believe that if you sit it out or decide to make a professional change things will improve as your chart is moving into better times. As long as you are aware that others will not be looking out for your best interests and you keep your ideas to yourself until you are ready to present them you will do just fine.
