For those of you who wish to contribute birth data to my research, please enter your information to my medical astrology research listed on my home page. This research is explicitly dealing with cancer and mental health – addiction illness. The focus is on early diagnosis and preventative medicine.
I want to stress how important it is to submit complete and accurate birth data – the time and place of birth.

I'm a 21-year old gay male living in New Mexico. I have been addicted to substances (alcohol, etc.) since I was a teenager. I can't shake them and can't seem to imagine a life without them. They are getting in the way of possible love interests because if I had a partner, they would need to be patient with the substances. As it is, I cling to phone sex and pornography to continue the escapism. I'm not complaining about my life. I've learned to live with it. But is there something in my chart that would explain my problem? That's all I need to know right now. If you could be so kind as to maybe help me explore this, I would be eternally grateful. You were born with your natal Neptune opposite your natal Venus across your sixth and twelfth. This is considered to be sorrowful, addictive, escapist and so forth. I believe that you are coming to a turning point in your life over the course of the next couple of years while transiting Saturn moves through the sign Gemini. This will cause some depression, some physical limitations and could even lead you to a rehab center or institutional type environment. I believe that you can turn things around if you want but I fear that you will have to hit rock bottom before that happens. Your chart indicates that you must be careful not to get involved with someone who is equally as addictive or someone who is already involved with another. What you should be focusing on the rest of this year and the first half of next is what you want to do with the rest of your life regarding your career. I met a very special person (February 4, 1969) 4 years ago after having met her at work. Once we talked, we realized we had a lot in common between us and it was amazing how closely the pattern of each of our lives seemed so much alike from our childhood to the present. We knew from the beginning that we could be very good for each other and therefore, we became very close friends almost instantly as though we had known each other all of our lives. I discovered that I could open up to her, like no other person in my life, and tell some of my most intimate feelings and hidden fears that I had carried inside all of my life as she did with me. Ironically, I have always seemed to have the problem of letting myself get too close to people even though I have many friends, they are not intimate friends. As we became closer throughout the 4 years, I have felt myself becoming very scared of getting too close, being hurt and even left behind, without reason, so I in turn distanced myself from her more and more without an explanation. She became less interested in our friendship and it began to unravel for both of us due to the stress of it all. Since December of last year, we have not spoken at all and it has really been a very devastating experience for me. It has changed me as a person in so many ways. I wish very much that I could rekindle our friendship that I miss dearly, but I don't know what would be the right words to say or if we would be better to put this behind and both move on with our lives apart. I believe that friendship is the operative word here. The comparison showed nothing more than that. It also revealed that there certainly is some mistrust, disillusionment or possible deception as well. Now that could have to do with the fact that you didn't even give her an explanation when you backed away. I fell that you have two choices and they are to move on and prepare to meet someone else who matches up to you much better physically and mentally or phone her up, be honest about your feelings and ask to resume the friendship. When I say friendship I mean just that. I believe that anything more would lead to trouble. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. If she isn't interested at least you'll know and can move on. You tend to match up to those born under the signs Aries, Cancer, Libra and Aquarius (she is not a very strong Aquarius). It is apparent that you do much better with people who are much older or much younger than yourself. You will be in a high cycle regarding love next year so don't waste too much of your time trying to turn what you have with your Aquarian friend into anything more than a friendship at this point.

I wrote to you once before, but it appears my letter was overlooked. I'm beginning to feel a little stressed over a situation that appears to be inevitable in my love life. I'm a Sagittarius, born December 2, 1961 at 9:45 p.m. A few years ago I met a wonderful man at work. He's a Gemini; born June 2, 1960 (I'm not sure of the time). I have a wonderful connection with this man--when we talk we're so connected that we finish each other's sentences. I also feel a strong connection in that I can feel his energy around me when he's not there. I've never felt this way with anyone before---not even my ex-husband. He was going through his divorce about the same time I was (shortly after we met), and we've been friends since then. I would like a romantic relationship with him, and I feel he wants one with me too but he seems to take two steps forward and then hold back. I can only assume this is because he's cautious of being hurt again. He won't reveal the reason to me. About six weeks ago, I met another man (Scorpio, born November 9, 1964, I don't know the time). We've talked a lot on the phone and started to date. I don't feel the same attraction with the Scorpio that I do with the Gemini, but the Scorpio is more "forward" in his approach which I really like. He also is not afraid to talk about his feelings, which I think is very important. I like him a lot--he's very sweet, considerate, intelligent and fun. I intend to keep dating the Scorpio. Can you tell me if the Gemini will ever step forward the way I've always hoped he would?I dread making choices between men, but I can almost see how this will play out. I'll start getting involved with the Scorpio and the Gemini will finally step forward and I'll feel guilty and torn. You are still going through a very unstable period where relationships are concerned. To try to make a decision at this time would probably end in a negative spin. Both comparisons were just adequate. I think that you can do much better. I get the feeling that you don't like to be single, that you truly want someone to love when really you'd be best to go it alone for at least a little longer. Opportunities to make changes in your home environment will be present until the middle of next year and you should be focusing on doing just that. Build your own base and do the things that you like to do. It's time to enjoy your freedom. You match up well to those born under the signs Aries, Gemini, Libra and Aquarius. You will be in a much higher cycle regarding love and romance in 2002. For now you should be enjoying the company of friends and discovering whom you are and what you want in a partner. Don't jump into a new relationship too fast and for the wrong reason.
