"Palmistry is a judgment made
on the conditions, inclinations, and fortunes of men and women, from the various
lines and characters which nature has imprinted in the hands, and which are
almost as various as the hands that have them."
-Aristotle (384-322 BC)

As the practice of palmistry spread every culture
seemed to have minor adaptations. Ultimately, it was in ancient Greece that
Palmistry first flourished as a mainstream practice. Palmists were respected
professionals and their practice was sanctioned by some of histories most
notorious personalities including Aristotle, Pliny, Paracelsus, Cardamis,
Albertus Magnus, the Emperor Augustus. During this time the "art" of palm
reading transformed into a science for the masses.
Before long Palmistry was practiced all over Europe
and Asia. It was clear that people saw value in learning about their strengths,
weaknesses and the personality they had developed.
It is most important to understand that palmistry
revolves around the belief that your personal health and most distinguishing
personality traits are reflected in your hands. This does not mean that your
hands determine your fate. It's just the opposite. Your hands may reflect both
good fortune and bad fortune, but ultimately you're responsible for your own
personal well-being. Therefore, as you make changes in your life style, your
hand will change accordingly.
